Simple methods such as adopting a “switch it off“ policy for example matching use of machinery lighting and heating to production and occupancy patterns can help business save both money and reduce climate change.

Further energy savings are available using technical fixes such as installing lighting and heating controls or replacing old plant with new energy efficient plant.

Some organisations (those that consume a significant amount of energy equal to an annual cost over £50,000) can obtain free advice from the Carbon Trust. Smaller organisations may need to approach a skilled energy consultant directly and meet the costs of the advice given themselves.
